9 National Medals won by Haverhill’s Uk Tang Soo Do Club.

6 Members of the Haverhill Tang Soo Do Korean Martial Arts Club took part with over 350 competitors from all over Great Britain and Ireland at the 31st British National Championships held on the 22nd October at Watford in front of the Grand Master Kang UK Lee.

Haverhill Instructor Craig Phillips said “I’m very proud of the students that went to compete at this years National Championships everyone has been training very hard in class working on their fitness, flexibility along with Forms and Free fighting techniques.

It was Jo White First National Championships, and she did incredibly well winning Bronze for her Forms and Silver for Fighting, her son Daniel White followed in suit coming home with a Silver for his fighting.

Well done to Steven Swaby winning Gold for his forms, and Silver for his fighting.

A special note goes to Ashlea Scott-Abbink becoming Double British champion winning both Gold in Forms, Gold in Fighting and the late Steve Ingram Memorial Award Second year in a row.

Tang Soo Do is a classical martial art.

Its purpose is to develop every aspect of self, in order to create a mature personality who totally integrates his/her intellect, body, emotions and spirit.

This total integration helps to create a person who is free from inner conflict and who can deal with the outside world in a mature, confident, intelligent, forthright, and virtuous manner.

For anyone interested in trying out this Traditional Korean Martial Art of self defence.
