Your Uniform (Do Balk)

Your Soo Bahk Do uniform (Do Balk) is very special, It is the same uniform worn by the ancient warrior-scholar knights of Korea called the "Hwa Rang". It is a common misconception that ancient warriors wore "black belts" in Korea, actually they wore a dark blue trimmed uniform (see photo ) the photo on your left was a Hwa Rang Do Balk on exhibit in Korea and it was trimmed in dark blue.

The Do Balk is very special to the Soo Bahk Do practitioner is connects their heritage to the Hwa Rang and its discipline. So the Do Balk should always be clean, fresh, pressed and in good repair. "Do" literally means "way" and "Balk" literally means "clothing". It is the uniform you wear when practicing the "way" of Soo Bahk Do.

Your Do Balk comprises of three parts:

Top - called "Sang E"
Trousers - called "Ha E"
Belt - called the "Dee"
